Coming of Age in the Hippie Generation

“I followed my heart, which is always a rather reckless course of action, and consequently have reaped both the rewards and suffering which inevitably ensue when you attach your fate to such a turbulent guiding star.”

About the Book

Ibiza Blues, the novel, is a labor of love, begun in a writer’s workshop in Honolulu some years ago, and crafted and re-crafted into its final form just as I, the author, am entering my eighth decade of life. Although a work of fiction, the book weaves in elements from the more than ten years I spent living in Europe as a young man, beginning in the 1970s. People often ask me, ‘what did you do there?’ and the answer is ‘nothing and everything.’ I followed my heart, which is always a rather reckless course of action, and consequently have reaped both the rewards and suffering which inevitably ensue when you attach your fate to such a turbulent guiding star.

Ibiza Blues is not a book from which any sage advice about how to live your life could possibly be taken, but it does offer hope that, as long as a heart keeps beating in our chest, the possibility for exotic adventure, the endless slaking of one’s curiosity about life, the ongoing dismantling of one’s preconceived notions, and most of all, the ultimate triumph of love are all within our reach as long as we continue to follow our own unique and always pesky inner voice.
